I had lot of respect for this list until this little thread. There is a big difference between personal disrespect like making fun of your or my names and using the phrase to describe M$. There is not a person there to be hurt. There is, by their own admission, a company directed by the world's richest man whose sole function is to sell as much product as possible (like any company) and make as much money as possible. M$ is not a sign of disrespect, it is a sign of disapproval. Forgive me for being so naive, but I thought this forum and others like it was a place where thoughts, ideas, and questions could be exchanged. I guess I was wrong.

I dont call you "Burny" either, do I? With the same reasoning you try to argu wqith here I would be allowd to make fun out of your name. If you want to abbreviate, MS is valid. M$ is a sign of disrespect. Regards Thomas Tomiczek THONA Consulting Ltd. (Microsoft MVP C#/.NET) -----Original Message----- From: Reggie Burnett [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sonntag, 28. True this is a technical forum which means we use the tools discussed in this forum to solve our problems. It does not mean that we are all employees of Microsoft or agree with all of their decisions. It is very common to make abbreviations of companies names (some humurous) and does not necessarily indicate age. I am a 12 year programming veteran and have great respect for much of what Microsoft does. I disagree quite directly with much of what Microsoft does and feel, unless proven otherwise, that much of what they do is arbitrary and designed to force consumers down a certain path. This type of behavior is fitting of the moniker M$. While I agree that this is not a forum to bash Microsoft it is also not an altar either. I'll continue to use the tools I need for the job (some M$, some not) and pay the appropriate vendors for those tools. This sort of behavior is fitting of adolescents, not professionals.
