We are developing a mission critical financial application and we have identified a certain core & critical components, This has led to an unwieldy situation... Whether the components needs to be written in C# or VC++ ..
Till date we have been writing such component in VC++ as it gives the flexibility of working at low levels of precision wherever possible..But i think those were the bygone days , with launch of .NET we can write a fast ultra low level bit twiddling code. I would certainly agree that each one would have different standpoint ... For VC++/C# officiando this would be one of religious issue because of their intense fervor on language :-) But if we bet on VC++ then C# language will be considered purely for UI purpose..This would be also underutilization of a language ... I would like to know the view of other developer/architects in this group.... I am also desperately looking out for benchmark info between VC++ and C#... if they have been conducted..
