Hi Shawn, A nice idea and a nicely written chapter. The "I asked you to write a lot of code but now I can tell I was only teasing you." line is surely starting the chapter with a bang :-)
Comments: 1. I personally prefer to print material I read, so I love "printer friendly" PDF/Word versions. 2. More to the point, typed datasets are a "critical section". Dino Esposito (in his book's "Afterward" section) calls this a "potentially explosive, feature", and speaks about the coming "object space". In short, this area is (IMHO) at the very focus of Microsoft, and will ejoy (suffer?- ) lots of changes. So, basing ones architecture on a modified tool appears a little risky.
