DirectDraw has only been depreciated but deprecated too :).
The replacement are the new
DirectX Graphics interfaces, which supposedly combine DirectDraw
and Direct3D. However the DirectXGraphics interfaces are a
lot more complex, and they force a 3D model on you even if that's
not what you want. So I think there'll be quite a few graphics
programmers continuing to use DirectDraw anyway - it's a lot
easier if you just want to do some fast BitBlt's - which is basically
what a screengrab is.
