This mailist closes in a week. I've noticed that a lot of questions still being posted to the old list are ADO.NET/Data/XML related. As one of the proponents of keeping the lists "chunky" (rather than over-specialized), I had to balance this chunky-ness with a desire for an data-specific list. So there is not a data-specific list.
So where do you post these questions in the new list structure? 1. Web data related questions (eg, "How do I populate the Web DataGrid with 1000000 rows with less than 1 second response?" ;-) go to DOTNET-WEB. 2. Winforms data binding questions (eg, "How do I bind the same set of data to multiple sets of Winform controls while maintaining currency?") go to DOTNET-WINFORMS. 3. Questions that are neither (eg, "Is there a ADO.NET data provider for the IDMS database and where would I find it?") go to DOTNET-CLR. 4. Questions having to do with data, XML and WebServices go to the Webservices lists or DOTNET-CLR. 5. Questions that do not fit into any of these categories and are .NET-related (eg, "How do I write my own database in C# and host the .NET runtime inside?") *might* go to ADVANCED-DOTNET. Yes, this means that folks that are interested in all those topics might have to subscribe to multiple lists (and the VB.NET list if you are doing it in VB.NET). This is arguably better than having 1000 lists because we want to have a list for, say, Visual Studio wizard programming in managed Perl.NET. ;-) And yes, I do subscribe to all the lists. ;-) And try not to crosspost.
