Dear All, - This is not an XP specific bug. We used to have the same problem on Win2000 server. It was already a topic on this mailing list in April with the title "Cannot start Ms .NET Framework Configuration pr." - It is maybe a problem of the original mscorcfg.msc file that the MMC "doesn't like" in some concrete circumstance (& computer). - The solution is clear (as already Brian Randell also explained)
- Launch MMC first. - Then use the 'add/remove snapin' menu to add the '.NET Framework Configuration' snapin. - After that You added the ".NET Configuration" snap-in into a new instance of MMC, save this console setting as mscorcfg.msc e.g. on your desktop - Rename the old (bad) one and move the new mscorcfg.msc to the original place (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705) After these steps, it should work the same way as originally (from the Control Panel)! That worked great, thanks. A few quick questions.... 1) What did you mean in your reply by +1? 2) Is this a bug in XP? A configuration problem? Why didn't it work from the built in menu? 3) Where should I save to? Right now it is saved to my programs menu off administrative tools. Is that the recommended course? In any case, I can't thank you enough. Bob You can read messages from the DOTNET archive, unsubscribe from DOTNET, or subscribe to other DevelopMentor lists at http://discuss.develop.com.
