I've had the displeasure of working with Crystal Reports for too many years..
Logon problems are a pain. The Crystal reports document object model has a method, SetDatabaseLogon, if its viable to set the username and password from within the code, it overrides the .rpt file details and may fix this issue. There are many hidden bugs and issues throughout Crystal Reports and it may be that some so-called 'defensive programming' like this is required.
