Your first post stated that you were using a proxy and VPN. Just because you are using VPN doesn't mean that there is no proxy. If the remote end requires a proxy, you still need to use it.
Since you are connecting through a VPN connection, you will want to check out the connection outside of your application to make sure that all the VPN settings are correct.
