I agree... Both Ruby and PHP seem to be very popular. I have never understood why PHP is so popular, though, given that it is just another interpreted language similar to ASP-VBScript. Seems to be a hot favourite for creating CMS solutions.
My guess is that the Open Source community hold the trio of PHP-Apache- MySQL close to their hearts and shun any other rationale.
