If you are reffering to the DataGridView control in Windows Forms, handle the RowPostPaint event. It is called evrytime a row is redrawn, and is the most reliable way to guarantee consistant results. The EventArgs has the rowindex for the row currently being painted. Use it to set the color for that row and/or any of its cells.
