I had this problem few days ago...
You need to create a style tag. or a css file. for example:
<style type="text/css">
.GridHeaderFixed {
color:red;
border: 1px solid black;
position:relative;
}
</style>
The style tag MUST have the position:relative.
And then. in GridView tag. add the following internal tag:
<HeaderStyle CssClass="GridHeaderFixed" />
I just tested it on IE 6 and IE 7.

I am trying to achieve scrollbard in grid view. I placed the grid view in
panel. I am getting scroll bars. But I want the header row to be fixed.
