This isn't home work.

the way that it needs to work is what is entered will have to be split
into 5 characters and 5 numbers. if they only enter 3 characters, pad
the other 2 with spaces

example abc12345 would be abc  12345

and if they only enter 3 numbers it will have to pad with  preceding 0

example abcde123 will have to be abcde00123
abc123 will have to be abc  00123


we don't want to make users pad their own entries with 0's
