Right on, P-Devil.

Google is your friend, OP. Find yourself a reason to write some
client/server code -- then go at it! Make mistakes! Get frustrated!
Slog through hours of irritation and Googling to reach that point of
blissful nirvana, the code high, when you achieve what you, several
times in the past several hours, thought was impossible!

And in doing so, you'll start to get familiar with the big names and
thoughts in the field, along with the names of books and authors worth
reading. But offhand, I can't think of any contemporary client/server
book that I would rate as "seminal" ...

BUT ... do you really mean "client/server" or do you simply mean a
scenario where "clients talk to servers"? It's not really the same
thing. Client/server was the paradigm pre-n-tier. Client/server is
kind of different from distributed, particularly modern remoting.
Client/server is ... well ... kind of old school.
