Had a similar situation.
Our KEY was a GUID so we used the first segment of the GUID to create
the subfolder for the documents to this order. You keep the newer
mapping
ID= "3BDA6795-50A5-4cf7-B6FE-B01759DE844A"
our process was to take 3BDA6795 to this:
3B
--DA
--6795
Our speed went up tremendously in finding the actual docs.
