Good point...indeed I am sending the request from a web page. Basically, what I wanted to do from my main web page is that when a button is pressed, then I wanted to make the HTTP call to the .asmx with the arguments (mentioned earlier below) without loosing the focus from my main web page, thus, why I am looking for an alternative to using Response.Redirect.
