Please, please... tell me that XML is not real and you're just
kidding. Even though you haven't posted the XML, I'm bringing my
deductive faculty into action. I just can't come to terms with the
implication that the value of one attribute tells you in which
attribute the last name will be. No wonder you have to check whether a
secondary node exists or not !! And what in the world does "LastName2"
stand for ? Whoever has two last names ?

Anyway, over with the rant, you could simply put the value of the
"FieldTitle" attribute into a variable. Then determine the value of
the attribute by that name. That is, of course, if you can get the
genius who designed the XML to do away with the spaces between "Last"
and "Name" and "2".

P.S.: If you designed the XML (no offense) or have control over its
format, post a sample (over at Pastebin) and we'll help you redesign
it.
