Another advantage is when it comes to multi-threaded access. Not too easy to write thread-safe code without judiciously using locks in properties

I should agree with Sriram that having propery wrappers is a cleaner approach; also a lot of code style checkers will complain on the original sample's use of fields in lieu of properties.

vijaysai - do you want to take another jab at the sample, this time with property accessors ?
