The Web Matrix is a free .NET development tool provided by Microsoft that allows you to build ASP.NET pages as well as XML Web services in either Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, C# or J#. The ASP.NET Web Matrix allows you to build your ASP.NET web pages in a very similar manner to using Visual Studio .NET. Both IDEs allow you to drag and drop server controls from a Toolbox onto a design surface. Once a server control has been placed on a design surface, you can set its properties to manipulate the output of the control.
