The version of file in VSS is not same as the version in your local disk it might have happened either because the file was not checked in to VSS properly or Some one has either modified(by unchecking read-only in properties of the file) or replaces the file in local disk. If you have modified the file with out checking out then the check the file property as said above and make required changes. If still you want the changes you made to the file in Disconnected mode then select leave option which will retain the local copy and when you check in the file all your changes will be reflected.
