New Message on dotNET User Group Hyd Web forms Vs Windows forms Reply   Reply to Sender   Recommend Message 3 in Discussion From: vamsum_kris windows forms r the plain old ( updated 4 dot net) windows applications that utilize the rich functionality of the windows gui. when the older classical asp was a hit- ms realised that the programming 4 the net should be no way different. but the problem was there were too many browsers out there that wont adopt any new standards. so the best way to do this was to use webforms for programming for web.   the web forms uses special 'sneaky' client side scripting that does event driven model  a reality and it compatable with all the web browsers b'cause ultimately all the content that the browsers get is plain old html and some script. its supported even by my old version of opera 5.5 ( i tested it!). so u can use any browser that can support script.   surprisingly cookies are used extensively by the asp dot net. but the browser even dont have 2 support cookies. asp automatically does special hyperlink manipulations (the so called cookie munging) to make this possible. thats truly immpressive!
