Folks:

I found this list of data modelling tools and worked my way through a couple of the interesting ones (as well as one suggested in my comments)

A couple notes:

Case Studio 2 – Seemed decent, did the reverse engineer OK but the price was a little steep for what seemed like a pretty limited feature set.

Happy Fish – Fun name, ran into errors during the reverse engineer… disqualified.

DeZign for Databases – Can only reverse engineer from script files as opposed to the actual database.

Then I tried out DBDesigner 4, which I had checked out before but I didn’t know had a SQL Server plugin. Thanks to the comment from Neil Dunlop pointing that out. It does what I need it to, its better than some of the expensive apps, and its completely free.
