Subject: Fwd: [Doudoulinux-dev] TV Tomsk report subtitled
To: Richard Holt <[email protected]>

Hola Richard,

Tengo un poco de trabajo por ti.

As you know we had the opportunity of a report on the local Russian TV of
Tomsk (see http://www.tvtomsk.ru/news-6999.html). We obtained the
authorization to use the video on our website. So Sergey gave me an English
version of the text that I used to subtitle the video in English. I think
this text can be improved so I copied it below for your proofreading. Feel
free to modify it as required but try to keep short sentences in order to
have a reasonable flow of words on screen.

Thank you in advance,

JM.

George, age 8, like many of his fellows spends a lot of time behind a PC.
Now he's examining a
new software specially designed for children.

“I've studied almost everything about computers. The system hardly teaches
me anything but this is great!”

This is the point from where DoudouLinux creators started: kids are sure
they're playing but in fact they're developing many skills. The programs are
educational and entertaining for kids from 2 years and up. Digits, colors
and letters for the smallest children; mathematics, geography and foreign
languages for the older ones. The user interface is so simple that a kid can
use it by himself. And his parents can rest assured about their important
data on PC.

“DoudouLinux system is loaded from a separate CD and does not need user or
system data stored on PC. Children can try everything, click whatever they
want without fear: it's guaranteed that they won't alter any data.”

DoudouLinux is based on the well-known Debian Linux. The first Russian
version was released and is available thanks to Tomsk enthusiasts from
Institute of Applied Informatics of TSPU.

“We have translated text: menus and messages in the first version. It's
published on the project website. Next phase is full localization of the
system and its components including translation of sound messages.”

The program is distributed free of charge and may become an irreplaceable
assistant for many parents. Children may have an opportunity to teach, play
and grow. Moreover, PC skills learned will be useful to them in the future,
for sure.

Objet: [Doudoulinux-dev] TV Tomsk report subtitled

Hello,

I found the time to subtitle the Russian report on TV Tomsk about
DoudouLinux (see http://www.tvtomsk.ru/news-6999.html). It is available
online to a private audience for now but will lead to an official article on
our website. You can download the FLV video from the freshly installed file
sharing system of our server:

http://www.doudoulinux.org/share/file.php?h=R2b5b31b5285f3108488a7457c2ddb1ba

It weights 8 MB. Comments are welcome, especially to improve the English
subtitles. I had to shorten a bit the translated text in order to keep a
reasonable flow of words on screen. Note that the latest words of Gosha are
missing (and I really cannot understand what he's saying).

Cheers,

JM.
