Hello,

This week I'm very pleased to announce that I added a new section in this
newsletter: graphics. As you'll see our project is still moving forward, faster
and faster, even if we're late on code development :(. But as we're going very
fast on many other topics, I won't blame anybody, starting with me! :p

Cheers, JM.

Team
====

* We welcomed a new contributor for Russian on TransiFex: Boobaloo.

* We welcomed our first two graphic designer: Elisa and Benoît. They're French
and Elisa can speak Spanish and Portuguese too, English a bit of course.

* I started to poll our most active contributors to prepare the next
communication campaign in March.

Translations
============

* I received fresh PO files for Dutch (Denis, Wamukota, FrenchR), Romanian
(Marian), Russian (Boobaloo, TSPU), Spanish (Yago) and Chinese (Benheng,
Nagiosfree).

* German has started thanks to the university of Tomsk (Sergey). Students are
working on the translation task, their names are Julia Pak and Ruslan Trigubets.

* Benheng did a great job for Childsplay translation. Childsplay was not able
to use a font for Chinese natively. So he patched it, added missing translation
messages and changed images displaying texts. I created a new resource on
Transifex, you can produce modified images as well.

→ Documentation page wanted to tell how Childsplay can be translated.

CDROM
=====

* The first official Chinese CD is almost ready, it is based on version 2010-11
(see http://download.doudoulinux.org/dailybuild/). Book an appointment for the
Chinese new year feast on the 3rd February!

* Still based on 2010-11, new versions for Dutch, Romanian, Russian and Spanish
are available on the dailybuild section (see
http://download.doudoulinux.org/dailybuild/).

* I started an interface to set the session menu (see
https://gna.org/task/index.php?7300).

* Finally the latest Gamine version is running on DDL after a second bug was
fixed upstream. It is now shipped with all the new CD builds from 2011-01.
Please test it!

Graphics
========

* Elisa and Benoît started to think of a story and characters that could
animate our CD. First sketches to be released soon, be patient!

* Elisa started to work on a new website banner for next release.

* She also looked at organizing the huge design work in a mind map. We have to
set priorities and she plans to use our task list on Gna. A road map for
graphics should also be published on our website to incite new drawers to come
and help.

Website
=======

* Yago translated new Spanish pages.

* The Tip and tricks English page has been updated.

* I setup our very new website private section on Spip:
http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/private/. You need a Spip account to access,
please ask me if you don't have one! We'll discuss in this area all the topics
that are personal or quite strategic (we'll build our future together),
particularly graphic design.

* Sergey updated Transifex links in translation status pages. They were wrong
after the move to Transifex release 1.0.

* Richard proofread English updates and new Spanish pages.

* I updated the PDF documentation online and generated the first Spanish
documentation (see http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/english/documentation-7/).

* I switched all comment validation on our guest books to “a priori” because
spam is coming: visitor messages are no more published until we validate them.

Communication
=============

* We are listed by TuxPaint as a promoting distro for their great software (see
http://www.tuxpaint.org/links/#distributors).

* Seen an entry in Ubuntu.se (Sweden) about the article on WebUpd8 (see
http://ubuntu.se/content.php/358-Doudoulinux-A-Linux-Distribution-Especially-Designed-For-Kids).

* Still in the Ubuntu community, user RastaTux has a signature advertising
about us! (see http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/profile.php?id=75000)

* Our first real article in Turkish: see
http://ankabilisim.org/2011/01/cocuklar-icin-gnulinux/. It was announced in the
feed aggregator of… Ubuntu-tr!

* We are officially supported by the following tools (web page wanted!):
  - Pendrive Linux, to install an ISO CD onto an USB key (see
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/)
  - Multi CD, to put several ISO's on a single DVD (see
http://multicd.tuxfamily.org/#SupportedDistros)

Support
=======

* Closed 3 bugs related to PDF documentation (see https://gna.org/bugs/?16925,
https://gna.org/bugs/?17364, https://gna.org/bugs/?17450)

* I added task ticket categories related to graphic design.
