Hello, We now have around 7 days to complete the work and publish the next release. This mail is going to summarize the status of our work. As I wrote yesterday in the weekly news, no new feature will be added/removed/changed on the CD, only bug fixes. This is the same for CD translations: despite I will rebuild the CD/USB images this week, if you have web pages in your language, you'd better work on them to update the documentation pages. I also need help to update/complete the English section. Of course if you're working on newly supported languages (Lars, Luca), keep on translating the CD!
Cheers, JM. Translations ------------ Compared to the previous release of November, next release will finally officially support 4 additional languages: Chinese, Dutch, Italian and Swedish. German will probably land in the group of officially supported later in March. I'm still not ready to tell which new language will be available as a demo, maybe Indonesian and Greek. They may appear on the website during the first week of March, after the new release is out. The expected translation status will likely be the following: * Arabic → CD 30% translated * Chinese → CD 70% + few web pages * Dutch → CD 95% + few web pages * English → 100% * French → 100% * German → postponed to March * Italian → CD 80% translated * Romanian → 100% * Russian → almost 100% * Serbian → CD 50% translated + main web pages * Spanish → CD nearly 100% translated + main web pages * Swedish → CD 50% translated * Ukrainian → CD 40% translated Of course we will publish translation updates in March and maybe April whenever required. Documentation ------------- As I wrote above we are late so if you feel that you can help please write/update English pages by yourself! If you don't have write access to the English section, post the text on the mailing list or create an article in your language section, we'll move it to English afterwards. Here is a list of the missing web pages and their status: * Setting screen resolution (with the case of 2 screens) → still to be written + screenshots * Setting menu of activities → ready for translation (+ proofreading) * Setting date and time → aborted since this tool has been postponed * Reporting an issue (with the hardware report tool) → still to be written + screenshots * Replace the word “session” with “activity” in pages → still to be done I plan to write “Setting screen resolution” very soon but you can steal me my work if you're motivated ;). New tips, tricks, known issues, still to be added to the concerned pages: * Copying data from other activities (for example copying the draws of the TuxPaint activity from the Whole DDL activity) * Persistence unavailable on Ntfs Development ----------- I finally had to postpone the development of the tool to set date and time and the new graphical interface for the hardware issue report. The following tickets are solved or being solved for next release: * Cannot change sound volume out of Mini/Whole DDL sessions (https://gna.org/bugs/?17551) * Set of gCompris apps for 2-7 and 7+ kids (https://gna.org/task/?7289) * Font size for icons at desktop is huge (https://gna.org/bugs/?17690) * OpenDict does not work - dictionaries do not activated (https://gna.org/bugs/?17689) * Monitor not detected (https://gna.org/bugs/?17228) * Pysycache is still in English on the Russian CD (https://gna.org/bugs/?17592) * Vkeybd cannot be translated (https://gna.org/bugs/?16870) * Gamine cannot be translated (https://gna.org/bugs/?16895) * LiveUSB-write: crash due to wrong number of %s in Russian PO file (https://gna.org/bugs/?17360) * Setting sync value to auto cause screen chaos (https://gna.org/bugs/?17404) * Discard logging as 'nobody' from GDM (https://gna.org/bugs/?17512) * Copying data from basic sessions is not easy (https://gna.org/bugs/?16967) * Generate a single modified KDE i18n package per language (https://gna.org/task/?7259) * Set of gCompris apps for 2-7 and 7+ kids (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7289) * kTuberling - replace English sound with russian for Russian version (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7294) * Write a nice interface to set the session menu (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7300) * Modify algorythm generating Russian names of web-pages (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7302) * Force video driver based on lspci result (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7267) * Use hardware signature to remember video settings (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7268) * New release banner (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7312) The following tickets are partially solved only and won't be ready on time: * Persistence is most probably not available on ntfs (https://gna.org/bugs/?16040) * Screen resolution is not saved when persistence is enabled (https://gna.org/bugs/?17237) And these ones are postponed to the release of May due to lack of time: * Add a nice GUI to set time (https://gna.org/task/?7174) * A nice GUI for the hardware report tool (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7245) * Insert translated welcome texts in boot image (https://gna.org/task/index.php?7253) As a result we're looking for developers to do this job for May. So when your translation job will be achieved, if you have Python/C++/shell/Gtk skills, you can help development! In a more general way, tell us your skills if you want to keep involved in our project after translations are done :). _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-dev
