Hello JM we dont need to put our data on facebook,i didnt see other pages to do it (ex. again ubuntu) we can just do that other do. same : put our download link, put our news , vote for something and also tell the world what we do , etc.
i also agree with you that we shouldn't put our data on this sites ;) its depend on to you to chose what would you like Local business of place ? Company , Organisation , Or Institution ? Brand or product ? Artist, Band or Public Figure ?
