Hello!

Next release is due to next week you know? This release will be our first
stable release and its name is finally Gondwana. I think we're ready, at least
on the technical side! We still need to update our documentation, provide
improved graphics and, if you want better translations, update translation
files. If you don't know what else to do for the project, you can still make
new screenshots and screencasts, or participate to documentation update, see:

http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/146

When referring to this release I ask you to forget its number (2011-05) and to
only use its name. Finally you haven't missed the greatest news of the month:
we're on DistroWatch!

All the best,
JM.

PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to
answer this mail with your scoop!

Translations
============

* I fetched all the translation files from Transifex on Sunday. You still have
few days to add more translations for our next release.

* The Transifex resource “doudou-rewrite” *will* be slightly modified soon to
include boot and shutdown messages.

* There are audio messages to be translated, see:

http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/doudoulinux/lang/trunk/apps/doudoulinux/doudoulinux-utils/sounds/

Please provide *.wav files, mono/22kHz sampling. You can use Rezound to convert
your files into the proper format. We have no portal (yet) to post your work so
please send me your files!

CDROM
======

See the current development status for next release:
http://team.doudoulinux.org/projects/doudoulinux-cd/issues/gantt. Technical
activities are nearly all closed for the CD. We are late for documentation!
Uploads for the official release should start on the 30th: hurry up!

* Added a new launcher in the tab multimedia: Jukebox. It's just the multimedia
player (Totem) started full screen to randomly play all the MIDI files it finds
in the user's Music directory.

* Thus added MIDI files and music scores (PDF and Songwrite format) in the
user's Music directory.

* Added “Hello” and “Bye bye” texts in boot and shutdown screens (these texts
are inserted into the splash images while building the CD).

* Many other improvements: stopmotion, the activity menu, etc.

Many dailybuilds are or will soon be available for several languages
(http://download.doudoulinux.org/dailybuild/).

Graphics
========

* Elisa started to define which drawings are needed to improve the CD look &
feel with our characters.

* OCAL contest: still running and, due to the lack (in my opinion) of
participation, I prefer lengthen the duration. Initially we should have closed
the contest for mid-May but I think it is better to close it in mid-June.

Website
=======

* New Spanish article “¿Por qué debería probar DoudouLinux?”.

* Sergey and I corrected several English pages to reflect our move to Redmine
(see http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/64).

* Sergey corrected several pages to make clear that DDL installation currently
requires the USB version, running or not (see
http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/21).

* News are on the road for next release and DistroWatch.

Please look at page history for English to update your own pages:

Communication
=============

* DistroWatch! DistroWatch! DistroWatch! DistroWatch!

* Try to think of what we could do to celebrate our first anniversary. The DDL
project was publicly released in late June last year. The exact day is unclear
(!) so I propose to say that it's the day of Summer! Let's celebrate DDL 1 year
on the 21th June :).

* Try also to think of web places were we could talk about our new release in
June ;).
