Hello,

Nice to read from you :).

First of all note that nobody has ever dealt with the DDL upgrading process. I
mean no special attention has ever been taken to ensure that users can upgrade
without loosing any data :(. Now that we have a first official release, users
can expect our next official version to do a smart upgrade. We should write a
ticket about this issue.

Now concerning your issue, you need to tell us more about the way you
proceeded. Did you use the DDL installer that ship with DDL? If yes, it is
supposed to erase the partition table of your disk, so you have nothing to
format once it has operated since any existing file system should then have
gone. Unless… unless you are trying to erase a DDL already installed on HD,
while running DDL on CD. I think I remember it fails supposedly because the HD
partitions may be mounted by the LiveCD.

Anyway the only good way to upgrade should not be to remove all partitions (and
then data!) but replace the system data only. Unfortunately I have no solution
on the shelf for all these issues. Further work is needed…

Cheers,
JM.
