Hello!

We've just published our first development release based on Debian Squeeze,
it's already time to think of our first official release update! Work your
translations and be ready for mid-September :). The past 12 days were really
rich of announcements too: Salvatore and Xavier managed to make Wikipedia and
the Belgian media speak of us, and our association DoudouLinux is now born.
I'll tell you more about this association in a dedicated email.

All the best,
JM.

PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to
answer this mail with your scoop!

Team
=====

* Gaurav asked to join the team as a developer. After few mail exchanged, he's
now looking at our development subjects to decide which one to start with.

Welcome to our project!

Organization
===========

* Our association statutes have now been signed by Fayçal, Elisa, me and my
father. The DoudouLinux association is thus already existing even if we don't
have an official paper :). I created the sub-domain asso.doudoulinux.org to
host the future website of the association. I also created a generic mail
account <[email protected]>. I intend to add a Spip page about our
association quite soon.

* I redirected news about articles automatically created by Spip to our mailing
list “docs”. If you've registered this list, you'll receive every notification
about articles proposed for publication or published.

* Mailing lists: please *register* to our sub-lists, I still find some of them
quite empty.
   doudoulinux-dev → main list
   doudoulinux-docs → website translation
   doudoulinux-lang → CD translation (Transifex and more)
   doudoulinux-graphics → graphic design
   doudoulinux-forum → user's list

* Redmine: there are still tickets to be moved from our former project
management software Gna. Please move the tickets you're owning, unless their
history is huge.

Translations
============

If you want to be ready for the first Gondwana update, please fill in your
translations for mid-September!

* Many translations were submitted on Transifex for Danish (Joe), Malay
(Puretech), Persian (Nava), Portuguese (Tiagom) and Romanian (Marian).

* Praveen announced that he has completed CD translation into Telugu [1].
Congratulations for this huge work, a part of Indian children will then have
their DoudouLinux for next update :). He's now starting to translate the
website.

* We now have 10 languages with a score above 95% translated, 14 above 90% [2].

* Several resources on Transifex were updated to solve an issue [3]: resources
may show less that 100% translated even when all messages are translated! As a
result, languages that were previously at 100% may now be below, because these
updates introduced new messages. I think the concerned resources needed
updating but I forgot to do it :(.

CDROM
======

* Our first development release based on Debian Squeeze is out [4]. It is
available in English, French, Russian and Spanish only. This is an important
step in our move to Squeeze and our port to ARM processors.

* I started to work on Gondwana update 1 :). CD's will be built between the
15th and the 20th September [5].

Graphics
========

* No news.

Website
=======

* I changed robot indexation policy on our web server in order to avoid to have
Spip pages better ranked than our official website
http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/ [6]. Wait and see if this has the expected
effect.

* New English articles, for the new release 2011-08: “The development version,
shortly”, “New applications” [7]. There is also a new section for these
articles (“Development version”) and I had to change our download page a bit
[8].

* New Italian articles thanks to Salvatore: “Creare una chiave USB
Doudoulinux”, “Le origini di DoudouLinux”, “La versione di sviluppo, in breve”.

* New German articles thanks to Sergey: “Struktur des Inhalts”, “Übersetzung
der Webseite in eine andere Sprache”.

* We still need a news to announce Malay, German, Telugu and Latvian
translations.

* We should also announce that our project is now working within Debian, plus
the development release and Gondwana update to come. Where are the volunteers?
:)

Communication
=============

* DDL on Wikipedia: Salvatore wrote a very good synthesis of our project on the
Italian Wikipedia [9]. You are all invited to start thinking of a translation
in your language [10]. NB: I checked the history of the page and it seems
nobody found anything too promotional in this article to be published in the
encyclopedia :).

* Xavier will show DoudouLinux at 2 free software events in Belgium [11]. He
also informed us that DDL will be on the Belgian radio and papers [12].
Congratulations for all these communication successes!
