No, a Plymouth animated boot is rather functioning like a game engine as I understood the things. It seems Plymouth moves/changes small images (“sprites”) on a screen background. You have to make the background, the “sprites” images and the algorithms that change/move “sprites”. Currently I've only changed the background images of the spacefun theme, you can see its “sprites” animated around our characters.
There is a blog with several posts about Plymouth theming: http://brej.org/blog/?cat=16 Note that this blog is Fedora oriented, you may need to adapt to your own distribution. As I often do, I recommend to deep into the existing theme files, this is often the fastest way to discover things :). In a Debian/Ubuntu box, they are located in the following directory: /usr/share/plymouth/themes/ Don't hesitate to share your understanding of Plymouth theming :). Cheers, JM. > best hope for new release, what does type of boot animation should be > ? > some .jpeg ? .gif ? or else > I hope we can make it best. > > Best regards > > Nava Ajdari _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-dev
