Hi there! It's been a long time we haven't been talking about our association DoudouLinux. To open a bank account, we need some money, so I though it is time to start funding it with membership and donations.
In December we decided during the IRC meeting that joining the association would cost 10 € per year. We haven't decided yet what being a member changes for you. Right now it won't likely change so much things because the association hasn't money! Of course in the future, the association may pay for salon participation, goodies (stickers, printed cups, T-shirts, etc.) or ink cartridges, USB keys, etc., for drawers, developers, promoters, etc. Concerning donations, paying the membership fees is a good opportunity to make a donation to the association if you were willing to do so. We will also soon receive the payment for the article published in “Linux Pratique Essentiel” (between 200 and 300 € I think). For your payment, please send a cheque in euros to “Association DoudouLinux”. Please inform me before sending your cheque, the association name may not be written on the mailbox yet! The mail address is the following: 4 route du Moulin Bourcier 77600 Chanteloup en Brie FRANCE If you can't send cheque in euros but still want to fund the association, I'll give the account number when it is open, to make a bank transfer. And if you really can't pay in euros, well, wait, I can't do more right now… Note that currently, we haven't so many cost fees, essentially web hosting and domain names. But as you can understand, the more we have money, the more we can start to think about more ambitious projects. This is why I'd like to provide a way to make donations on our website during the coming months. If you have any idea or experience on this topic, please share with us! Note for people owning a DDL domain name: I propose we refund the domain cost in order to make clear in the association accounts the overall cost of the web infrastructure. One of the purposes of the association is to ensure visibility and continued existence of the project, starting with infrastructure. -- Cheers, JM.
