Hello!

Few words about DDG on DDL. As you probably know, we have started to
discuss with the DDG folks and agreed on using DDG as the default search
engine for DDL. But the issue we were facing until recently was that DDG
was bypassing DansGuardian filtering, while trying to remove “naughty”
contents from children eyes. This was due to the extensive use of
javascript (Ajax) for loading the search results one by one.

I discussed with the DDG folks and it seems we have found a solution.
The search results that were wrongly displayed before are now filtered
by DansGuardian. We now need people to test our solution in different
languages. You need to use DDL or a Debian/Ubuntu installation plus the
DDL packages related to DansGuardian (see
http://debian.doudoulinux.org/pool/main/d/). To test, you have to use
this kind of DDG URL:

https://duckduckgo.com/html/?kl=fr-fr&t=doudou&k1=-1&kp=-1&q=text_to_search

Where text_to_search is the text to search for on the web and fr-fr is
the country and language (see http://duckduckgo.com/params.html).
Currently the parameters passed by URL like above are *not* preserved
for the next queries if you use the DDG search box in the result page.
You have either to change your query in the URL directly or to define
your default web browser search engine to be DDG with the URL above (and
removing the query value! – just “&q=” instead of “&q=text_to_search”),
then use only the search box of your browser.
