Hello,

Thanks Sergey for commenting :).

> I see the main navigation tool called menu is missing.

I suppose you're talking about the main sections download, about,
documentation, etc., in the bottom of the page header. I can tell you
that the purpose of the new design is to make a website that doesn't
look like a labyrinth of information and that is able to fit any screen
size, from the smallest smartphones to the largest LCD screens. However
quick and easy access to the main section may be relevant, so we need
more details about the will of our designers as well as opinions from
others ;).

This is a discussion to feed. It seems most of us are happy with
automatic language selection but in some cases, it may not work for an
unknown reason. If someone is in this case, please tell us what is
happening. There may also be detailed information about this issue on
the Internet. I must I've never search for.

Personally I'd find boring to have to choose my language everytime I'm
visiting the website. I think it is also interesting to be able to
change of language from any page, particularly because not all pages are
translated.

Opinions from who, our visitors? I'm not sure we'd really want this
because this requires daily moderation… On the contrary I agree we could
show pieces of articles speaking about us. If we only show titles or
short excerpts, this can be combined with blog and micro-blogging
titles.

Yes, partner banners are missing. The visitor map too since this
partially answers to the question “is it really a project to trust in?”.

Maybe the right menu should go to the page bottom to reduce the amount
of information. Popup menus won't work on tactile devices, we should
avoid using them, unless the small screen design is quite different from
the other screens, but I understood no and I think it'd be better for
clarity if we tend to simplicity everywhere.

> 4. as for lower menu at the top we should get rid of it too -

Yes, I agree. I think this was planned.

> 5. donations/shop banners would look great under the menu

Exactly. Initially I proposed to use 3 boxes of identical size just
below the header, with a nice large icon in each of them. The order
should be shop, donation, download because we'd like the project to
survive! Note that the challenge is that we currently have no shop nor
donation system!

Probably better on the right side, I'm not sure to have ever seen this
at the bottom.

> I would summarize it in a handwriting.

In your draw, I think our web designer will disagree with the third
column, on the right. Unless it is simply suppressed in small screen
designs, we won't know what to do with it. I tend to think it can be
removed for all if it can be for small screens! Indeed, we should try to
apply the DDL design to our website: move out of sight everything that
is not strictly necessary for the standard visitor, especially the first
time visitors. This is the purpose of this new design: show the first
time visitors relevant information to make them test DDL then come back
later to read more or support us ;).
