It seems Tuxpaint can use alternative fonts for the system locale. In its data
directory /usr/share/tuxpaint/fonts/locale/, there is a link for Chinese,
probably wrong for DDL:

$ ls -l /usr/share/tuxpaint/fonts/locale/zh_CN.ttf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 30 nov.  13:23
/usr/share/tuxpaint/fonts/locale/zh_CN.ttf ->
../../../fonts/truetype/arphic/gbsn00lp.ttf

I tried to change it but it seems Tuxpaint crashes with ibus in my version of
VirtualBox. Maybe Tuxpaint can only work well with Arphic fonts?

Concerning the Aa icon, you should probably ask the upstream project, if you
don't want to analyze its source code :).

Cheers,
JM.
