Hello! Due to holidays I was not able to write the past 2 weekly news. So this weekly news will talk about the past 2-3 weeks. Even if many of us are not much available for various reasons, the project is not totally sleeping as you will see. And we are now very close to the magic number of 100,000 visitors on our website :).

Team ===== * Three new contributors proposed to help the project for translations: - Praveen_Illa asked to start Telugu on Transifex (2nd language of India according to Wikipedia) - flaviodemenezes asked to join Brazilian Portuguese on Transifex - vinz asked to start German on Transifex They're all already at work: welcome to our project! Elisa, Marian: please note that I haven't asked them yet how they want to appear on our list of contributors: nickname or real name. You can do this for me if you have some free time. Organization =========== * Please *register* to our sub-lists as soon as possible so that we can switch the traffic to these dedicated lists :). In a near future, I won't send mails to the dev list anymore if they are targeting another list! * Redmine : there are still tickets to be moved from our former project management software Gna. Please move the tickets you're owning, unless they're history is huge. Translations ============ * Many translations were submitted on Transifex for Czech, Danish, German, Malay, Persian, Brazilian Portuguese and Telugu (Svarcp, Joe, Vinz, Puretech, Nava, Flavio, Bruno and Praveen). Good work guys! CDROM ====== Stats are showing that 25,000 CD's have now been downloaded from our website. No other news. Graphics ======== * OCAL contest: the final vote is still on, please vote for a logo and a mascot if you haven't voted yet (see threads https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-06/msg00117.html and https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-07/msg00004.html). I'll close the vote next week. * We received a mail from Flar who took part to the OCAL contest. He may be willing to help the project, we certainly have to talk with him about this opportunity. Website ======= According to Clustrmap we've seen 95,000 visitors since June 2010. When will we reach 100,000? Next week? * Many new Italian articles thanks to Salvatore: “Avvio rapido”, “Programmi per lavorare”, “Squadra e contributori”, “Giochi ludici”, “Cosa c'è di nuovo nell'ultima versione?”, and “Programmi multimediali”. * New Russian article from Sergey: “Замечания к текущей версии”. * We need a news to announce Malay, German and Telugu translations. Communication ============= I'm proud to announce that Google recently updated their pagerank for our website and we are now evaluated at 4/10, which is quite good after one year of existence only. * The famous LWN published an interesting article about us (see message https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-07/msg00013.html). * Sergey contacted several Russian websites to tell about Gondwana. * linux.org.ru published a Russian article 2 days ago, which lead to 2000 new visitors (see http://www.linux.org.ru/news/debian/6508443). Support ======= * Sergey reported many issues with the first build based on Squeeze, as well as issues with Gondwana.
