Hello! If you don't have our release schedule in mind, I recall that our next two releases are the following:
* the development version 2011-11, due to late November * the second Gondwana update 1.2, due to mid January Gondwana 1.2 will be mainly a language update, just as 1.1 was. We may include fixes and new (small) tools depending on development progress. As not all our translator contributors have registered our lists, it would be nice if some of us take the necessary time to send messages on Transifex internal messaging in order to inform the whole translation team about Gondwana 1.2 [1] (yes I mean one message per contributor, this is why it is better if we are several people to do the job). I've just rearranged the development version schedule [2] to reach what seems possible to do, supposing that more contributors help the project for its development version too ;). [1] http://team.doudoulinux.org/issues/435 [2] http://team.doudoulinux.org/projects/doudoulinux-cd/issues/gantt And then everybody's eyes open wide: “I definitively can't program, how could I help the development version?” :p Well, I'm not sectarian, there are many other possibilities to make this version way better than the previous one 2011-08: * Provide an augmented SVG library for TBO [1] Your role is to find collections of astonishing SVG draws on Open Clip Art Library in order to widen the possibilities of TBO for drawing comics. * Search for existing literature [2] I'm looking for texts targeting children in various languages and, of course, with compliant licenses. I came across gutenberg.org and invite you to start by searching this website for such texts (see the sub-ticket of this ticket :) ). * Ship small illustrated stories on CD then website [3] Kind of extent of the idea above: once we have short stories, why not beautifying them? You need to draw or be able to find nice drawings, with compliant licenses :). * Teaching children programming [4] Four new applications have been installed for this purpose in 2011-08. We now need to test them and decide which ones are the easiest to understand and use. Why not giving them a try? * Search for existing MIDI files with compliant licenses [5] Your role is to find collections of pleasant MIDI music files, with compliant licenses – still. Beware that both the music author and performer must be taken into account for copyrights. Children songs or traditional songs highly welcomed of course! * Update website for 2011-11 [6] Although our website should not be adapted weeks before a release is out, some tasks can be planned and some other ones, like making videos, already started. * My first blog [7] I need some people to install and test several wiki/blog engines and evaluate their ease of use, in order to make the first children (local) blog engine. I still don't know whether we need to write one by ourself or can simply derive an existing one. But I need people to help decide what we do for this important new feature. There are also tasks about documentation writing, testing is always a good idea and… you can help write code as well! Of course I don't pretend to be exhaustive and you may also have good ideas to develop our project. Feel free to tell us :). All the best, JM. _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-docs mailing list Doudoulinux-docs@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-docs
