Hello! Quite surprising, hibernation cannot be switched on as far as I know. The reason is that the hibernation system parameters need to be set manually, which is currently not the case (there is nearly no way to know the good set of parameters in advance for a given computer).
Does the screen saving work during several minutes? Or does it freeze immediately after the screen is becoming black? Note that there is no screensaver software installed, screen is likely saved by the X server natively. Have you tried to press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get back to the console?
