Hello! As you now know we're going to publish our first (development) version based on Debian Squeeze for the end of the month, then an update of Gondwana for mid-September, and finally we'll focus on DDL on ARM processors (read the complete story on https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-08/msg00014.html). This is why our project is back to development and I hope you'll all find the time to provide translations, graphics and more within the upcoming weeks to be ready on time :). Concerning this week, it's been quite slow due to summer holidays in our hemisphere :).
All the best, JM. PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to answer this mail with your scoop! Team ===== No news. Organization =========== * We are supported by the initiator of Debian Jr. in order to make the project revive (see http://lists.debian.org/debian-derivatives/2011/07/msg00075.html). * Mailing lists: please *register* to our sub-lists. doudoulinux-dev → main list doudoulinux-docs → website translation doudoulinux-lang → CD translation (Transifex and more) doudoulinux-graphics → graphic design doudoulinux-forum → user's list * Redmine: there are still tickets to be moved from our former project management software Gna. Please move the tickets you're owning, unless their history is huge. Translations ============ * Translations were submitted on Transifex for Danish, Greek, Malay and Persian (Joe, Kvisitor, Puretech, Nava). * Danish and Greek CD translations are nearly finished (see https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/doudoulinux/r/all-resources/). Congratulations to Joe and our Greek team, Constantin (alias Kvisitor) and Panos (alias Pyanna7). If you want to be ready for the first Gondwana update too, please fill in your translations for mid-September! CDROM ====== * Gérald started to install Debian Wheezy on ARM devices to investigate on DoudouLinux/ARM. We'll try to have a code base that is common for Debian Squeeze and Wheezy (the next stable release of Debian). Wheezy may not be stable enough for a daily use but it is much faster on ARM than Squeeze for technical design reasons. * I moved the Gondwana code base to branches on our SVN server (see message https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-08/msg00015.html). The trunk branch is now dedicated to Squeeze. The experimental branch that Gérald set up for Squeeze is abandoned since its code has been merged to the trunk. * I brought many improvements to the Squeeze build (see message https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-08/msg00018.html). It can now be built in languages other than English :). But there are still many issues though :(. * Test DVD's are available on the dailybuild section for next release 2011-08 (see http://download.doudoulinux.org/dailybuild/). Graphics ======== * OCAL contest: Oleg announced the results on OCAL (see http://openclipart.org/ddl_contest) and started to contact participants of the contest in case they would feel like helping us. * Fran who finished at the 3rd place of our contest, contacted us to tell he is mainly a sculptor. So why not sculpting DoudouLinux characters then? :) Website ======= We have reached 100,000 visitors last week. By the way Google increased its ranking from 4 to 5 and Alexia is ranking us the 620,000th most visited site of the world (among ~80 millions of sites!). * New Italian articles thanks to Salvatore: “Regolazione del mouse”, “Logo di DoudouLinux”. * We still need a news to announce Malay, German, Telugu and Latvian translations. Communication ============= No news. Support ======= * Two people asked about DDL installation. * A Chinese man is reporting that our website is now black listed in China :(. We may need to setup a mirror. _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-lang mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-lang
