Hello!

End of August is coming and, just like good grapes make good wine, we're about
to harvest the grapes that have been slowly maturing all summer long! Our first
development release based on Debian Squeeze will be out in a week,
approximatively. Its name is an awful number, 2011-08, we'll find a better name
when we'll be about to make it be an official successor of Gondwana(*). Of
course our documentation base needs updating, I hope you haven't all given up
the project for a too hot island of the Pacific ;).

All the best,
JM.

(*) so probably not before 2012-02 in the best case, more likely 2012-05.

PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to
answer this mail with your scoop!

Team
=====

* Dark_blood asked to join the Ukrainian Transifex team.
* Karim Oulad Chalha asked to join the Arabic Transifex team.

They're already at work. Welcome to our project!

NB: I'm afraid our official list of contributors hasn't been updated for a
while [1]. Many contributors who have started to work for the project are
missing, that's a shame. It would be nice if someone takes the necessary time
to list people who joined the team during the past few weeks, check who
actually started to work and compare with our online list of contributors. It
was lastly updated on the 21st June, quite a while.

Organization
===========

* Our future association statutes are currently being signed by Fayçal, Elisa,
me and my father, who accepted to help me manage this association. We'll try to
provide a translation of the statutes in a reasonable time. You'll be able to
join our association quite soon, when we'll have an official record number. The
first step will be to organize an online meeting to elect the administration
board. Of course all the details will be given on time, stay tuned!

* I recently gained SVN write access to the Debian Junior project packages,
which shows how confident are the Debian folks with our work :). I'll tell you
later how we can work *within* Debian while not giving up our project ;).

* Mailing lists: please *register* to our sub-lists, I still find some of them
quite empty.
   doudoulinux-dev → main list
   doudoulinux-docs → website translation
   doudoulinux-lang → CD translation (Transifex and more)
   doudoulinux-graphics → graphic design
   doudoulinux-forum → user's list

* Redmine: there are still tickets to be moved from our former project
management software Gna. Please move the tickets you're owning, unless their
history is huge.

Translations
============

* Many translations were submitted on Transifex for Arabic, Hungarian, Italian,
Malay, Persian, Polish, Telugu and Ukrainian (Karim, Sas, Salvatore, Puretech,
Nava, Filar, Praveen and Dark blood). Thank you for your involvement :).

* We now have 9 languages with a score above 95% translated, 13 above 90% [2],
shortly a good job.

* I started to look at how to introduce new versions of application messages in
Transifex, since the move to Squeeze may change some translations. The bad news
is that Transifex is not currently designed to handle several versions of the
same resource. The good news is that they are planning to work on this issue
during the coming 2-3 months.

If you want to be ready for the first Gondwana update, please fill in your
translations for mid-September!

CDROM
======

* Our development release 2011-08 is very close to the final release [3].
Please give it a try [4], even if it's not in your language yet – you'll have
to wait for 2011-11 indeed to have it in your language.

Graphics
========

* No news :(. Holidays? :).

Website
=======

* New Italian articles thanks to Salvatore: “Usare una chiave USB o un disco
fisso USB”, “Persistenza dei dati”, “Regolazione dell'audio”.

* We still need a news to announce Malay, German, Telugu and Latvian
translations.

* We should also announce that our project is now working within Debian. I
don't remember to have talked about this: I added the Debian logo on our
website!

Communication
=============

* DDL on Wikipedia: this idea was launched by Salvatore [5]. Richard and I have
added our distro in the list of Linux distros, in English [6] and French [7].
You're all invited to do the same! (it takes at most 5 minutes) Of course we
still need to write the article linked in these lists :).

* New positive article published on junauza.com [8], with kind of translation
available on korben.info [9], a very influent, independent French blog about IT
and free IT world :). The later was noticed by Xavier [10].
