Hello, I've just looked at the Transifex resource “doudou-rewrite-ascii” and, despite it is well translated, many translations are not correct. I recall that messages of this resource are used during the early boot stage, the very first graphical screen with poor graphic resolution and poor color depth. Due to limitations of the software responsible for this boot screen (the bootloader Grub), it is *not* possible to display any other characters than pure ASCII.
This means that early boot texts *must* use the Latin character *subset* a-z and A-Z only, without any accent. Any use of another character, Latin or not, will result in strange symbols. So the rule is the following: * If your language is using a Latin alphabet with accents, cedillas, etc., try to use words that don't use them or replace characters with the pure ASCII ones. * If transliteration of your language into Latin alphabet, using only a-z/A-Z, is acceptable, then please transliterate all your messages. * If transliteration is not a standard practice for your language, please use a foreign language that has most chances to be understood in your country. For example our Chinese translators have chosen English and on the Arabic CD, it is French. Please check your language as early as possible!
