I understand your point and thank you for your reply. Even though your response is valid I don't think it's the answer to my question since, in my case, I have no virtual users so I really shouldn't need to define a lookup. The question:

"Is -d required any longer... and if so, how, please."

My overall goal relates to incorporating the use of the dovecot sieve module. My current 'deliver' command line within postfix's main.cf "mailbox_command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -e" is working fine. When incorporating the sieve filter I came across this in the wiki, "The envelope sender is taken from a Return-Path: header in the message. The envelope recipient is taken from -d option passed to deliver."... and wondered if I MUST modify the 'deliver' command line to properly run sieve (and its vacation script).
