Are you using Dovecot version 1.1.1? If you are using an earlier version (i.e. a 1.1 release candidate), there was an update that was made that eliminited these errors in certain circumstances. Specifically under Solaris I might add. If you are using 1.1.1, I'll have to defer to others to solve the problem.
