Alan,My goal is to reduce the file count in my backups. Based on the information at the link you sent it looks like for a Maildir setup the file count remains the same. Do you know if it's possible to have a mixed config with Dovecot where for a given user the Inbox is a maildir, but the archives are compressed mbox files?
