Connection closed by foreign host. You have "LOGINDISABLED" enabled. Which means that you can't login with plain text mechanism. See: http://archiveopteryx.org/imap/logindisabled Is Sylpheed able to use another auth mechanism rather than PLAIN or LOGIN? Perhaps you should also use TLS to encrypt the hole traffic between client and server, as it is supported by dovecot (STARTTLS).
