As far as I can see in version 1.8.8 a default Parser has been introduced
for unknown extensions which does not do anything with the file. In the
past, as far as I can seee, these files were treated as one of the existing
file types (I think C). Trough EXTENSION_MAPPING you can set the required
language (in your case probably dtx=C)
