Update: saros-project.org is online again. Our IT staff probably used an outdated Firefox plugin, which indeed reports "7.27" for our website. The Chrome version of that plugin, the website version of that tool, and -- most important -- the Drupal files themselves report "7.32". That was enough to convince them and we're now back online.
I subscribed to the Drupal security news feed to prevent longer periods of having a vulnerable website and putting our IT staff into the position of having to block our site in the future.
