Dear developers,

Today at 19:00 UTC the student application deadline for the Google Summer of
Code 2015 passed.
I want to share some statistics with you:

 * Since Saros was announced accepted as an GSoC 2015 organization,
40 students contacted us and inquired about the listed
   project ideas [1].
 * From these 40 students, we eventually received 18 individual
proposals covering all six of the proposed ideas.
 * The applicants come from 10 different countries stretching all
over the globe (geographically, from west to east): USA, Ireland,
UK, France, Italy, Hungary, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, and
   Bangladesh.

During the next two weeks we will carefully examine the submitted proposals,
get in contact with individual applicants when we need further input, and
finally rank the proposals.
These rankings will be made by Holger and myself; anyone interested in having a
vote in this might contact me directly.
See here [2] for the overall GSoC schedule.

Due to limited mentoring capacities (again, Holger and myself) we will not be
able to accept more than *one* applicant.
So it is definitely going to be a series of tough decisions for us.

Cheers,
Franz
