Dear Saros developers,
I have written a few wiki pages concerning the development on the HTML GUI
and the usage of Git.
1. If you want to integrate new features for the HTML GUI, [1] provides a
good starting point. It highlights the classes you have to create or modify
and explains some of the ideas behind them. The source code itself contains
a accompanying JTourBus tour.
2. I had to learn a great deal about Git while working on Saros and I felt
that most new developers struggle with the same things. So I started a
wikipage aimed at basic Git (and Gerrit) tasks. The difference to a
standard git tutorial (that still has to be read) is that it contains the
distilled set of commands for basic Saros tasks.
As there a dozens of different ways and dozens of different git programs
(GUIs) for achieving the same outcome, I try to explain an easy (for
beginners) solution in a tool-independent way.
This wikipage is far from finished and it could especially benefit from the
experience or views from other developers. [2]
3. Saros uses a browser library for Saros HTML, which was originally
created by Björn Kahlert and is a wrapper for the SWT browser. If you want
to develop on that, you might want to read [3] for an introduction. This
documentation focuses on the possible replacement of SWT browser.
4. [4] might be relevant for IntelliJ plug-in development (currently just
one tip).
If you indeed develop on the browser or HTML it is unlikely that the
documentation can answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Christian
