Hi Stefan,

> nobody pays attention to these messages

This is not true. We're just used to see:
"Jenkins build became unstable: Saros-Eclipse-STF-Nightly #{n}"

and then -- one day later:
"Jenkins build is back to stable: Saros-Eclipse-STF-Nightly #{n+1}"

without any actions taken in the meantime.
(Daniela Benze works on this flickering.)

What was missing in this particular instance was the message:
"Jenkins build is still unstable: Saros-Eclipse-STF-Nightly #{n+1}".

I checked the option "Send e-mail for every unstable build", so we receive that
message in the
future.

So thank you for generating that "still unstable" message manually this time.
What happened: In both builds #1584 and #1585 all tests failed completely.
Compared to #1583, where there were no failed tests, the source code did not
change.
This means that the execution environment somehow changed.

My first thought was the server restart on Tuesday evening [1].
The logfiles (e.g. [2]) gave the answer: saros-con.imp.fu-berlin.de was not
reachable.
The reason is simple: saros-eclipse1 and -eclipse2 are not directly connected
to the
internet, but use saros-build as a gateway.
Since saros-build is not perfectly configured, enabling packet forwarding was
not yet
stored in /etc/systcl.conf.

I enabled it and saved this setting in /etc/sysctl.conf as well, and now our
infrastructure should survive a reboot.

Cheers,
Franz

Saros-Eclipse-STF-Nightly #1584

I am always impressed that nobody pays attention to these messages.

Why not just turn them off forever and discover all issues during pre
release testing.

At least some people will have something to "enjoy".
