Category: Installation Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed >Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Thomas Nilsson (thoni56) Assigned to: Hendrik (translatemyname) Summary: Installation failed on 3.6 - requires GEF 3.7 Initial Comment: I could not install Saros on Eclipse 3.6 because of: eclipse.buildId=M20110210-1200 java.version=1.6.0_29 java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. BootLoader constants: OS=win32, ARCH=x86, WS=win32, NL=sv_SE Command-line arguments: -os win32 -ws win32 -arch x86 Error Sat Feb 18 10:28:06 CET 2012 Missing requirement: Whiteboard Plug-in 11.12.9.r3685 (de.fu_berlin.inf.dpp.whiteboard 11.12.9.r3685) requires 'bundle org.eclipse.gef 3.7.0' but it could not be found 1) The dependency failure should have been detected at dependency resolution time I suppose. It didn't, but failed after trying to install. 2) If Eclipse 3.6 is supported the dependency need to be to GEF 3.6 I suppose ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hendrik (translatemyname) Date: 2012-02-20 01:29 Message: The plugin.xml is already updated. I came up with a solution that works with both GEF 3.6 and 3.7. Will put it on the review board now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Stefan Rossbach (kargor) Date: 2012-02-19 18:29 Message: You only have to update the plugin.xml There is no need to disable features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Thomas Nilsson (thoni56) Date: 2012-02-19 02:48 Message: No problem to upgrade, but there was no indication of it in the installation procedure (except for the error). If GEF 3.7 can be installed in Eclipse 3.6, is it not possible to get Eclipse to detect this and trigger an upgrade? My concern is simply that with the current result I had no clue that I needed to (manually) upgrade to GEF 3.7. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hendrik (translatemyname) Date: 2012-02-19 00:56 Message: Eclipse 3.6 works fine with GEF 3.7. But I heard from several sources now that it is confusing having to upgrade it. The problem lies in a feature that currently needs GEF 3.7. I will look for a workaround. If I don't make it in time we should probably deactivate this feature for compatibility reasons ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=843359&aid=3488946&group_id=167540 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
