Category: Consistency Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed >Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Michael Jurke (arbosh) Assigned to: Michael Jurke (arbosh) Summary: Inconsistency when concurrently writing at same position Initial Comment: To reproduce: In a session with two peers, let both peers write a couple of letters at the same position. The resulting letters are mixed up and differ on both sides. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Karl Beecher (k_beecher) Date: 2011-01-05 04:44 Message: Fix confirmed in testing 5.1.2011 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Jurke (arbosh) Date: 2010-12-30 08:48 Message: The problem was introduced by a new dispatcher in the SarosSession for long taking operations. As a consequence a bunch of received activities was not executed consecutively anymore in the SWT thread and local actions could be executed in between - milliseconds after the transformation but before the execution of the transformation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Julia Schenk (juliaschenk) Date: 2010-11-25 07:00 Message: The problem can be redproduced with the following setup: - One Host and one Participant - both have Driver Role (write rights) - Participant and Host write in same line - When Host starts to delete some of the characters the participant has written, then (only) in the Hosts file Saros inserts the characters the Participant is typing in arbitrary positions two or three lines under the line the Participant is actually writing. - The files of Host and Participant go out of sync but the watchdog doesn't say anything - The Host is not able to recover the correct version of the file I append the logfiles of three session where this consitency problem occured. - for one session (2010-11-24) there are also screenshots showing the two file versions of Host and Participant - for another session (2010-11-25) there is also short movie showing the hosts screen with the file going out of sync and the saros log messages ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Jurke (arbosh) Date: 2010-11-01 10:01 Message: Sorry for putting a wrong comment. The problem is just more likely to arise if the computer has more load. The important thing to reproduce is that one peer writes the letters, and when half of them have arrived at the other peer's side, click there at the end of the line writing another letter. The strange thing is that the consistency watchdog does not find an inconsistency. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Jurke (arbosh) Date: 2010-11-01 09:51 Message: I noticed this problem only appears when Saros is started in Debug modus. As endusers will not get effected I lowered the priority. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=843359&aid=3098992&group_id=167540 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
